It’s essential to have regular checkups and cleanings to maintain proper oral health. Dental cleanings are meant to deep clean the surface of your teeth to remove plaque and other substances left behind by your regular toothbrush. Regular cleanings can help prevent gum disease, bad breath, and tooth decay. At Gentle Dentistry, we prioritize your comfort while visiting our office. Our friendly staff is dedicated to helping you achieve your ideal smile and encouraging a welcoming environment. Contact our office today and ask about our new patient special so we can get you on a regular cleaning schedule.

Preparing for Your Dental Appointment

Our incredible receptionists are here to help you schedule your appointment. Be sure to add it to your calendar and set a reminder for your visit. At Gentle Dentistry, we want to answer all of your questions and discuss any concerns you may have about your oral health. Dr. Evans and Dr. Goold are extremely helpful if you have concerns about gum health or you are experiencing pain. Be prepared for your appointment with your identification and insurance information. We will check your insurance eligibility before you make your initial appointment. If your information changes at any point, please let us know so we can update our records.

Arrival and Reception

When you arrive, our friendly front desk staff will help you get started with any forms we need and collect your personal information. We ask that you arrive early to allow time to fill out forms and for our staff to get you into our system prior to seeing the dentist. Complete the documents to the best of your knowledge; if you have any questions about the forms, our friendly staff will help you. Our comfort menu is also available to help you feel comfortable at your appointment; request a weighted blanket, a neck pillow, or headphones.

X-rays and Getting Comfortable

Our dental hygienists will escort you from our waiting area to your chair. You can meet our entire staff here. The hygienist will perform x-rays and get you settled before your visit with the dentist. Our professional team is experienced in all dental procedures and does its best to make you feel at ease while receiving your treatment. Let us know if you have any concerns or discomfort so we can help you feel more comfortable. You can discuss any hygiene concerns you may have with our hygienists. They can offer helpful tips and tricks for the best care for your smile. And, as always, you can request any of our comfort items while you wait.

Comprehensive Exam

Dr. Evans or Dr. Goold will review your X-rays with you. They will go over any areas of concern, including cavities, gum disease, or abnormalities in your mouth or jaw. The dentist will compare your X-rays to your physical teeth, which is called a comprehensive exam, instruct the hygienist to mark any cavities and discuss treatment options with you. They will also check for any signs of oral cancer and analyze your bite. At this point, Dr. Evans or Dr. Goold will most likely help you understand what’s going on in your mouth and suggest treatment options if fillings are necessary. If you need additional treatment, we will notify our front desk staff to schedule your follow-up appointment, where we will complete the needed treatment.

Scheduling your Next Appointment

At the end of your appointment, your hygienist will encourage you to brush your teeth at least twice a day and discuss the importance of flossing and its impact on gum health. We will send you on your way with a new toothbrush and a fresh roll of floss. Your hygienist will direct you back to our receptionist, that will help you schedule your next checkup and cleaning. Follow a strict oral hygiene schedule between your appointments, and we’ll see you next time! It’s important to schedule two yearly dental screenings, typically every six months. At Gentle Dentistry, we are dedicated to your comfort while visiting us. If you are considering Gentle Dentistry for the first time, you may be eligible for a discounted rate for your initial exam.
